Hello! I'm Megan McCoy and I am a junior at K-State. I am from the Kansas City area, but more specifically I am from Lenexa. I currently am a biology major on the Pre-PA track and am open to wherever PA school takes me. Ultimately I would like to stay in Kansas for school, but if that is not the case I am okay with that too! However, after PA school I would love to leave Kansas and pursue my dreams of living in Colorado (or really anywhere outside of Kansas). Later on in life when I am older and have a family, I can see myself coming back to Kansas but I do want to get out and live somewhere else for awhile. Something I am passionate about, hence going the medical route, is helping other people. Currently I have my CNA and I actually really enjoy it. I love being able to see the positive impact you are making on someone else's life along with improving their quality of life. Something that fascinates me with evolution, but more specifically biology is how intricate and complex each working part is. It fascinates me to see how it all comes together to form a common goal. Although I don't feel like I see evolution in my daily life I do know that it is happening. Us and probably many other organisms are evolving each day. I have struggled to fully understand the concept of evolution 100% in past classes because I feel it is a complex subject, so I am hoping to learn and dive deeper into this topic.
Hi Megan! I am also a Biology major and know others who are on the pre-PA track. Living in Colorado is an amazing dream to have and I hope you get to fulfill that dream one day. Where are you wanting to work as a PA? Or do you see yourself trying different options out until you find one that sticks. I believe Hannah Nine and Madison Zimmerman also said they are passionate about helping others out so there are definitely people who share your passions in this class! I too struggled to see how evolution affects our daily life and never completely understood the concept of evolution. Even though I feel that evolution is talked about in most biology classes, I only understood the concept at face value but became confused when we would dive deeper into the topic. Hopefully we both are able to learn the complex subject by the end of the semester!
ReplyDeleteMegan, we have a lot in common! I want to live in Colorado sometime too; It's such a cool state with so many different things to offer. I'm from the KC area as well (Overland Park) and my major is biology. I have a minor in chemistry which I hope helps me out as I want to work in the field of forensic science. I am excited to dive deeper into the topic of evolution this semester, but also a little nervous because it is so complex. There are always different ways of thinking about topics so hopefully we can gain a lot of perspective this semester.
